You may or may not be aware of this, but up until very recently, a Facebook status update had a 5,000 character limit, meaning if you really wanted to let your friends see your magnum opus update at 2:34 am on a Tuesday, you needed to use some other less restricted medium.

Well, no longer. As of yesterday, an update Facebook pushed out to users also included an upping of that limit to something beyond 60,000 characters, a far more lax limitation, and one that will no doubt encourage the creativity of many, many, many of the service's users. We'll leave it to you to decide whether or not the change is welcome.
