Late last night we discovered that many Verizon customers were not seeing 3G and 4G service on their phones. Verizon support confirmed the issue, but it seems like the network is now back in business or at least on its way. Verizon's public relations arm has issued the statement below:
Verizon Wireless 4G LTE service is returning to normal this morning after company engineers worked to resolve an issue with the 4G network during the early morning hours today. Throughout this time, 4G LTE customers were able to make voice calls and send and receive text messages. The 3G data network operated normally.
Data service restored for all 4G customers after issue in AM. 3G devices were unaffected.Voice, text worked for all customers throughout.

We had seen reports of 3G outages overnight, but we are currently seeing four bars of LTE on three phones here in New York, though we have been seeing that since 9:00AM this morning. Regardless, it seems most of you out there should be seeing consistent LTE speeds now, we just wish Verizon would explain what went wrong and why this has happened two times in the last eight months.
