Yamaha's released a 2.0 update for its AV Controller app which now allows Android and iOS phones to stream music to Yamaha receivers from various devices via DNLA. The new music functionality allows users to browse, search, and play music stored on the smartphone or on computers or NAS devices, and control receiver functions such as power, source selection, zones, DSP, and volume. Yamaha says it's also improved the overall interface, fixed some unnamed issues, and improved the app's stability; we tried it out and it's simple and snappy. The app has been updated for all of Yamaha's compatible receivers and Blu-ray players, but the new music functionality is only for receivers — head on over to the Android Market or the App Store to check receiver compatibility and download the update right now.
