Being able to use voice and gestures to control the Xbox Live Dashboard is a great idea that continues to get better, but so far it hasn't been implemented consistently enough to be a reliable substitute for controller input. Microsoft aims to change all that by requiring developers to build Kinect support for all new Dashboard apps, starting today — a Microsoft rep told Joystiq that the goal of the new policy is to bring Kinect functionality to "every experience where voice and gestures make sense." Users still won't be required to use Kinect to control the Xbox, but Microsoft wants to make the experience more seamless, which is exactly what the system needs.
