Skype just launched beta version 5.5 of its app, an update that sounds pretty minor overall but brings a few bug fixes and UI improvements to the table. Users now have the option to answer a call with or without video, and the overall calling UI has been tweaked and refined. Skype also included the standard vague quality and stabilization improvements that often accompany such releases and squashed a aug in which the dialpad would randomly appear. The new beta (build 5.5.0.2069) is available now and installed without incident, and while it doesn't appear significantly different than the previous version, heavy Skype users on OS X should appreciate the improvements.
