Nikon's Coolpix P510 is a bridge camera with a 42x zoom lens, the longest in the world. The camera also features a 16.1-megapixel backlit CMOS sensor, an articulated 921k-dot 3-inch LCD screen, GPS, and 1080p video recording.

Bridge cameras have increasingly lost their relevance in the face of mirrorless competition, but you won't be getting a 42x 24mm-1000mm equivalent zoom lens on your PEN anytime soon. That's what Nikon's banking on with its new Coolpix P510, anyway, pairing the lens with a 16.1-megapixel backside illuminated CMOS sensor. For those keeping count, the jump from the P500's 36x zoom makes the P510 the new zooming champion of the compact camera world. The camera also features an articulated 921k-dot 3-inch LCD screen, GPS, and 1080p video recording. It'll go on sale sometime this month in black and red for $429.95.
