Kickstarter project TidyTilt for iPhone is almost identical to Apple’s Smart Cover for the iPad 2, only instead of protecting your device's screen it solves an entirely different problem — keeping your headphone cable out of the way. The rear-mounted TidyTilt uses magnets that allow the flexible plastic cover to hold together, enclosing the cable and keeping everything uncluttered. And like the Smart Cover, you can use it to stand your iPhone 4 or 4S on its long edge for watching videos or writing with a keyboard.
Since there are no magnets on the back of the iPhone 4 or 4S, installing the TidyTilt requires an adhesive for attaching a stainless steel frame to the back of your phone (the designers say you can easily remove it), giving the magnets something to stick to. One downside is that the magnets can affect the phone's compass, so if you need to get an accurate reading it's a good idea to remove the cover first. Also, because of its large lip, you won't be able to use Apple's own bumper case with TidyTilt, although it is compatible with slimmer bumper-style cases. TidyTilt has already reached its fundraising goal of $10,000 six and a half times over, and the project will receive funding on January 29th.
