Freescale will demo several technologies running on its i.MX 6 line of ARM Cortex-A9 processors at CES: gaze-tracking, wireless battery charging, home energy management, and augmented reality for home medical systems. The company expects gaze-tracking to be the next step in user interfaces beyond gestures, and it might be right — Tobii is also demoing the technology at CES. The Wireless battery charging systems will intelligently manage power delivery while communicating with the device being charged. With Home energy management systems, users can control home energy consumption and utility companies can manage grid loads and prevent power demand peaks. Finally, the augmented reality home medical assistance system will use a camera that can recognize a pill box and overlay useful information, such as when the next dose should be taken. We'll see how these demos work very soon.
