In early November, science fiction and fantasy author Ken Liu's story "The Paper Menagerie" won the World Fantasy Award, making it the first story to win not only that but the Hugo and Nebula prizes, which were announced earlier this year. Focused on the relationship between a Chinese mother and her American-born son, it's a touching look at intergenerational conflict, childhood, and (as you may have guessed) origami. In honor of the win, io9 has republished the story in its entirety, giving people who didn't catch it in the Fantasy & Science Fiction magazine last year to read it. It's also appeared in the British Origami Society's magazine, where editor Dennis Walker commemorated it with the above paper tiger.
