In South Korea, volunteers known as "Nuri Cops" are waging what might be the most futile war imaginable — the war against internet porn. As the Associated Press reports, pornography remains illegal in South Korea, though it's a difficult law to enforce in one of the world's most well-connected countries. That's why the officials have outsourced the responsibility to the Nuri Cops — "net cops" who spend their days scanning the web for porn and other objectionable content. The hope is that eliminating porn will lead to a reduction in sex crimes, though Nuri Cop Moon Tae-Hwa acknowledges the difficulty in trying to stay on top of the internet: "It's like shoveling snow in a blizzard."
