AllThingsD reports that Google plans to release Google Maps for iOS tonight. Google-powered maps were dropped by Apple in June after being offered on the company's flagship smartphone since its original release in 2007. The move to cut ties with Google upset many after Apple's own mapping software had a buggy debut, and users have waited for months without much of an indication from Google on when the app would return; the companies have reportedly been in constant communication over Google Maps, but no definitive timeframe has been given for a release.
