The FCC's Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation (CALM) Act went into effect yesterday, after more than four years of development. The regulation requires TV broadcasters to guarantee that all commercials are aired at the same volume as programmed shows, as part of an effort to mitigate excessively loud advertisements. The rules apply to all TV stations, cable operators, and satellite TV companies, and to enforce them, the Commission is looking for consumer feedback. If you spot any abnormally loud commercials, the FCC is asking you to file a complaint on its website, or to call them directly at 1-888-TELL-FCC (1-888-225-5322).
