Google says Nexus 4 supplies are scarce and erratic, offers unreserved apology for delays

The managing director of Google UK & Ireland has offered an unreserved apology to customers that have been affected by Nexus 4 delays. Speaking in reply to the Google+ equivalent of an angry mob, Dan Cobley told users what they are going through is "unacceptable," and reassured them that his team is "working through the nights and weekends to resolve this issue."

After initial stock sold out in a matter of minutes, UK orders started anew on December 4th, with the first customers expected to receive their phones within three-to-five days. It would appear, however, that not everyone has. Cobley reassured those that were given the three-to-five day estimate that they will receive an email notification early this week with tracking information, adding that their shipping charge will be refunded at a later date. He also said that people that received pre-Christmas shipping estimates will likely get their order processed this week, but declined to guarantee a date that these users will receive tracking information for their order.

While it's good to see a senior Google employee tackling these issues head-on, the fact remains that customers expecting delivery in early December still don't even have a tracking number to their name. Cobley blames LG for the delays, stating that "supplies from the manufacturer are scarce and erratic," but admits that Google's "communication has been flawed... I realise that the people who ordered the Nexus 4 so early are among our most committed and loyal users and we are doing all we can to put things right."
