HTC has reportedly dropped its plans for a large-screen Windows Phone 8 device. Bloomberg reports that the company is scaling back its efforts because the device would have a lower resolution than competing models. Windows Phone 8 currently supports resolutions up to 1280 x 720 (720p) and 1280 x 768. HTC recently released its Droid DNA handset with a 1920 x 1080 (1080p display).

The Verge previously revealed HTC's Windows Phone 8 roadmap, with a Zenith flagship that appears to be the planned large-screen device. Specifications included a 4.7-inch Super LCD 2 display with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. HTC currently offers two Windows Phone 8 handsets, the 8X flagship and an 8S mid-range device — neither feature a 4.7-inch display.
