For those fretting over the loss of the 13-inch white MacBook as a (relatively) low cost, full-sized laptop for educational purchase, Apple's started offering a new SKU of the 13-inch MacBook Air. It contains the same 1.6GHz Core i5 processor, 2GB of RAM, and 64GB of flash memory as the low-end 11-inch MacBook Air, but includes the larger and higher-resolution display. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem possible for a single user to get their hands on one of these machines — they can only be purchased in bulk quantity by educational institution buyers. For those qualified buyers, packs of five are available starting at $4,995. If you're a college student looking for an inexpensive Mac, your cheapest option is still the 11-inch Air.
