After reaching a funding goal of $400,000 in just over eight hours, Double Fine developer Tim Schafer has announced that his new game will be available on a variety of platforms. PC, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android users will all be catered for alongside DRM free versions of the upcoming game. Although Kickstarter users know very little about the point-and-click adventure, more than 50,000 have pledged money towards the game, raising over $1.5 million so far.
Schafer, the developer behind Day of the Tentacle and Psychonauts, turned to Kickstarter to fund this new game and has revealed it will be localized in French, Italian, German, and Spanish. The crowd-sourced project has avoided traditional publishers and private financiers by reaching out to fans. Kickstarter backers will get exclusive access to the beta over the coming months and a chance to witness the game's development until its expected release in October.
