The redesigned Samsung Series 9 just got one step closer to release. Electronics retailer J&R has the new 13.3-inch and 15-inch laptops on pre-order for $1,399.99 and $1,499.99 respectively, matching the prices we got earlier. However, while we had previously seen a release date of February 27, J&R doesn't list a date, instead saying the laptops will be "coming soon." A version of the 15-inch laptop is already available in South Korea.

Although they don't bear the name "ultrabooks," the Series 9 laptops are thin and light, weighing 2.5 and 3.5 pounds. Introduced at CES, they'll come with an Intel 1.6GHz Core i5 processor and a 128GB SSD that's supposed to be able to boot Windows 7 in 9.8 seconds. We don't see the laptops at any other retailers so far, but we expect that they'll be coming in the next couple of weeks.
