It's been just about a year now since Time Warner Cable released its TWC TV app for iPad, letting users stream live television from some cable channels to their tablet so long as they were on their home Wi-Fi connection, and since then we've seen the app released for iPhone, Android, and desktop browsers. While some no doubt abhor network television, there's no getting around the fact that there was no way to stream American Idol to your iPad. That all changes today, though, as Time Warner Cable has announced that it is bringing live streaming of local TV stations (26 in total) to its apps for customers in New York City. The cable company says it's working to offer local channels in "a few more markets" by year's end. We can't complain about having more channels to watch online, but we are still waiting for live streaming support on the Android version of the app.
