BlackBerry PlayBook users will now be able to download digital versions of many of their favorite print publications, thanks to the release of Zinio on the App World. The BlackBerry version follows releases for pretty much every other platform on the market, including iOS, Android, OS X, Windows, Linux, and even webOS — the only conspicuous absence seems to be Windows Phone. The app allows users to buy, subscribe to, and read a large variety of magazines and books, and despite the long wait, the developers have come through on their plan to deliver a PlayBook client in mid-March. The service boasts stores in 23 countries and "hundreds of thousands" of titles, including Wired, Macworld, and Popular Mechanics. If you're a PlayBook user you might as well take a look — the download is free, and there are a decent number of free magazines to look through before you decide about buying anything.
