Toshiba has been cranking out a number of tablets lately — we just took an in-depth look at the Excite 10 LE, we saw the 7.7-inch AT270 at Mobile World Congress, and now the company is taking the wraps off the LT170. This tablet falls firmly on the last-gen, budget end of the spectrum, with specs like a 1GHz ARM Cortex processor, 512MB of RAM, and a 7-inch, 1024 x 600 screen. Adding insult to injury, the LT170 is only running Android 2.3, so users wont even get the flawed but tablet-optimized Honeycomb experience. In some respects, it looks like Toshiba took its Bookplace DB50 Android e-reader, cut the RAM in half, and slapped it in a more traditional case — other specs, including the processor, screen resolution, and storage space, are identical. If you still want to put your hard-earned cash down, the LT170 is available for pre-order at some Italian retailers for €299 and will be shipping in a few weeks. There's no word on if we'll see it in the US, but that might not be a bad thing.
