We heard last week that the Galaxy S II Skyrocket was to be one of the next ten AT&T devices to be updated to Android 4.0 and it looks like users won't be waiting too much longer. Developer site RootzWiki leaked an Ice Cream Sandwich ROM just a couple of hours ago, and all signs point to this being official 4.0.3 firmware. Just as with the international update for the Samsung Galaxy S II, this is a thoroughly TouchWiz affair, but Chrome Beta and other Android 4.0-only apps are working as they should. There are no reported issues with the ROM at the moment, which leads us to believe that this a final build.
Until AT&T finishes whatever testing is left and deems it fit to officially release an update, the only way to get Ice Cream Sandwich on your phone is to flash the leaked ROM via a PC. This does have some risks, especially if the process is interrupted, and the manual update will flag up in Samsung's firmware ticker, invalidating your warranty. Update: We're hearing conflicting reports on Google Wallet support, which despite the device's built-in NFC capabilities, hasn't been working until now. We'll update you once we know for sure.
