We visited the Anime Contents Expo in Chiba on the weekend and got to take a look at NTT Docomo's limited NERV edition SH-06D. The phone is a tie-in for the popular Rebuild of Evangelion movie series, the newest version of which — Evangelion:3.0 You Can (Not) Redo — is scheduled for a fall release in Japan. A modified Sharp SH-06D, the NERV edition phone features case and UI elements designed by director Hideaki Anno's Khara studio.

While the phone was behind glass, we did get to see a mockup of its UI featuring the same busy, orange-red-green interface found on NERV's computers in the movies. The device's molded plastic back also looks like it would be totally at home in Tokyo-3, right down to the stylish, centrally-placed logo. Still no official word on pricing or availability, but NTT Docomo has made clear that supply of the 4.3-inch Gingerbread handset will be limited.
