Skype for iOS has just been updated to version 4.0, and among other additions, users can now reposition their own video preview when on a call. That's an (admittedly small) advantage that FaceTime and some other video conferencing apps had held over Skype until this point. UI enhancements have also been introduced with the update, bringing an updated look to the contact list, messages, and the login screen.
One of the more interesting tidbits relates to stability: Skype claims that the app will now automatically reopen should it be closed unexpectedly. We haven't come across many iOS apps with such a feature, but at least you'll be able to reconnect a bit quicker in the event of a crash — and if we're being honest, that's not exactly an uncommon situation. The company also promises bug fixes and improvements to accessibility, though doesn't dive into specifics in those areas. Skype 4.0 is available for download in the iTunes App Store now and requires iOS 4.3 or above.
