Good Old Games is a great place to find classic games, and every so often the site even gives them away for free — and for the next two days that includes the original Fallout. The post-apocalyptic role playing game first launched back in 1997, though a bumpy development process meant it almost never came out at all. Like its modern counterparts it gives you plenty of freedom to wander the desolated wasteland and tackle obstacles however you like. But unlike newer games like Fallout 3 or its follow-up New Vegas, this isn't an first person shooter, but instead is a turn-based experience viewed from a zoomed-out, isometric perspective much like Diablo. The GOG version of the game is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, and 7, and you also get a few goodies like a soundtrack and wallpapers. If nothing else, it's a great way to get in the post-apocalyptic mood in time for the launch of Wasteland 2.
