Pantech will release the Vega Racer 2 phone in South Korea as early as the end of this month, according to DDaily's sources. The original Vega Racer was Pantech's first smartphone to cross a million sales, and the sequel is said to feature a 4.8-inch 720p LCD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 SoC, LTE, and come in "the world's first" ceramic case. We're not sure of the validity of that last distinction — the black HTC One S's microarc oxidiation process turns the phone's aluminum body into a ceramic, at least. The screen size would likely be another differentiator, despite not being quite as sharp as the company's 4.5-inch 1280 x 800 Vega LTE.
Of course, Pantech doesn't make a habit of releasing its high-end phones outside of Asia, but Korean manufacturers could well start a screen size trend — the latest addition to the Galaxy S III rumor mill is that it'll feature a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, courtesy of an "anonymous Samsung executive" speaking to Hankyung.
