Bethesda has updated Skyrim to version 1.5 for consoles, just a few weeks after the first beta update was made available to PC users. Most of the new features for PC have made their way across to the PS3 and Xbox 360, along with the mass of bug fixes that iron out many wrinkles in the game. The company's also used the announcement to give a couple of statistics about the game: the average Skyrim play time (across all platforms) is 85 hours, with 30 percent of owners spending over 100 hours in the game.

    New features include:

    • New cinematic kill cameras for projectile weapons and spells
    • New kill moves and animations for melee weapons
    • Smithing skill increases now factor in the created item’s value
    • Improved visual transition when going underwater
    • Improved distance LOD transition for snowy landscapes

The bug fixes address not only stability issues but also a number of storyline glitches, for example where killing certain non-playable characters would prevent progression through a mission. The update's available now on North American consoles, while Europe should follow shortly.
