RIM has confirmed that its BlackBerry 10 camera timeline feature, which allows users to select parts of multiple shots for the best effect, was licensed from camera company Scalado.

When we got our first look at BlackBerry 10 earlier this week, we were impressed with the new camera, which lets you scrub through a timeline to fix a blinking subject or other imperfection. Apparently we weren't the only ones, and a little work by TechCrunch revealed that the tool was very similar to one by Swedish camera company Scalado. Now, RIM has confirmed that Scalado, whose "Remove" system we tried out in February, is licensing its technology for BlackBerry 10.

According to a spokesperson, "RIM has been working with Scalado on camera technology and has licensed some of the Scalado technology for the BlackBerry 10 platform. As shown during the BlackBerry World Keynote, RIM is planning a unique implementation of the technology on BlackBerry 10." RIM brought several partners (Scalado not among them) onstage during the BlackBerry World presentation, but honestly we're more impressed with this licensing deal than with many of the better-publicized ones.
