At first blush, Anna Anthropy's Redder seems like a simple side-scrolling collection game about a stranded astronaut. After making an emergency landing on a red planet, your quest is to replenish a depleted stock of crystals to presumably re-power your ship. The game's context seems unquestionably obvious: you need the crystals to power your vessel and get home, right? You want the crystals. You have to have the crystals. But as you move through the game's puzzles and stock up on starship sustenance, strange symptoms begin to appear. And before you hit the final twist, you'll be wondering where you are, what you're doing, and how deep your kleptomania really runs. Redder is free to play in your browser, so head on over to Newgrounds and start pocketing those crystals.
