re:route app launches in London to reward iPhone users who walk or cycle to work

TfL and Recyclebank have teamed up to release a Re:route iPhone application designed to encourage Londoners to walk or cycle to work.

If you're an iPhone owner who has been braving London's April (and May) showers recently to walk or cycle to work then you may soon be rewarded for your efforts. Recyclebank and Transport for London have paired up to release a re:route app that encourages Londoners to walk or cycle to work with rewards.

The new mobile app, which is only available for iPhone users for now, allows users to collect points for every journey made. The points can then be redeemed against a number of offers from retailers such as Marks & Spencer, Cineworld, Haven Holidays, and more. If you're thinking about cheating your way to points then think again, the application includes a timer and GPS tracking to ensure genuine journeys are made by bike or on foot. We got our hands on the application today and spotted that it also includes public transport routes, so if you're feeling particularly lethargic then there's always a train, bus, or tube journey option too — although you won't earn any points that way.
