If you’re a Comcast Xfinity TV customer that subscribes to ESPN you can now get WatchESPN, the online and mobile app portal for the ESPN sports networks’ shows, at no additional cost — giving you access to live events, from NBA games to SportsCenter, from your computer and mobile devices. The move will double the number of customers who can access the service up to 40 million, bringing Comcast’s customers the same benefits already afforded to Verizon, Bright House, and Time Warner subscribers. The new offering is part of a 10-year deal between Disney (which owns ESPN) and Comcast. The deal, in turn, is part of the rocky TV Everywhere initiative that aims to make cable TV providers’ programming available online, paywalled, to existing subscribers. In addition to WatchESPN, Comcast also noted that other "Watch" branded TV Everywhere products from Disney are scheduled to arrive later in the year.
