If you checked out our review of the unique and modular Asus Padfone and its assortment of accessories — including a 10.1-inch tablet shell — you probably never thought an American carrier would pick it up and sell it on contract. It's just too funky. So far, you'd be right, but that doesn't mean you can't purchase the Padfone if you're dedicated. American gray-market retailers are starting to get the phone-tablet bundle, and at least one says that it's now in stock. Negri Electronics is selling the 4.3-inch Padfone and 10.1-inch tablet station combo in its 16GB variety for $859.50. You can double and triple that storage space, respectively, for $959.50 and $1059.50, though those two are still only available for pre-order. No word on how long it will take to get the transformative system to your doorstep — nor do we see any mention of that Bluetooth headset / stylus or that desktop monitor dock — but gray market retailers may be your only choice if you're looking to get in on Asus' latest creation here in the US.
