As quickly as it came, Facebook's skunkworks "Find Friends Nearby" feature is no longer working, ABC News reports. What originally started as a hackathon project by Facebook engineer Ryan Patterson, Find Friends Nearby let users locate people they know and "people they might know" nearby according to a person's geo-location. The mobile website, dubbed "FriendShake," went up yesterday, but if you visit m.facebook.com/friendshake now, you get a blank page. There are no signs as to whether the feature will continue to be developed by Facebook, but we'll keep you posted if we hear anything. Facebook told ABC News:

"This wasn't a formal release — this was something that a few engineers were testing. With all tests, some get released as full products, others don't. Nothing more to say on this for now — we'll communicate to everyone when there is something to say."
