Today Foursquare announced a developer preview of a new Connected Apps function for iPhone and Android, and promised that a Blackberry version will be soon to follow. The new feature will allow third-party apps to function directly inside Foursquare and provide information and recommendations as users check in to a location. Foursquare has already worked with some developers like Foodspotting and Untappd, which allow you to share and receive recommendations on food and beer respectively. Other third-party apps include Soundtracking, which allows you to share and find songs at a location, Instagram, which adds integrated photo sharing, and The Weather Channel, which provides a weather forecast on the first daily check-in and when checking into a new city. The new developer preview is available today for iPhone and Android, but there's no time frame for the Blackberry version yet.
