After apparently being canceled due to "poor device performance," HTC's Desire HD Ice Cream Sandwich update may still be happening after all. Android Central has been in contact with both HTC and Telus, but the two have given conflicting messages on what's going on. An HTC spokesperson insisted that "we remain committed to providing customers with the latest software updates when possible. As such, we are pleased to confirm we are still on schedule to deliver an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade for both the HTC Desire HD and Desire S."
Telus, however, said that HTC suspended Android 4.0, something it confirmed to us. "At this time, HTC has yet to provide us with further information on the status of this upgrade," the company said. HTC, meanwhile, revised its statement, giving Android Central a more ambiguous promise. "HTC is committed to providing the best customer experience on our devices and are currently determining the ability to support Ice Cream Sandwich on the HTC Desire HD. We'll provide more information when we've completed our analysis." It's still a spot of hope for Desire HD owners, but it's probably best to keep those lifting spirits in check.
