Xiaomi, maker of the MiOne "Xiaomi Phone," has announced the Mi2 smartphone, a device that ticks virtually every checkbox an Android user could hope for. Powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor (the APQ8064) paired with an Adreno 320 GPU and 2GB of RAM, the Mi2 has a 4.3-inch 720p IPS display, and 16GB of internal storage. Imaging duties are taken care of by an eight-megapixel sensor with an f/2.0, 27mm wide-angle lens that can shoot stills at eight frames per second and record 1080p video (samples here), and there's also a two-megapixel front-facing camera. The standard 2000mAh battery will hopefully keep the device running through to the end of the day, but Xiaomi will sell you a 3000mAh battery if you don't mind the added bulk.
The Mi2, like all of Xiaomi's phones, will run MIUI, a highly-customizable ROM based on the Android Open Source Project's (AOSP) Jelly Bean release, and will also feature a voice assistant feature. It'll go on sale for 1,999 Chinese Yuan (around $314) unsubsidized — or roughly half the cost of most US "flagship" models without carrier subsidies — this October in a variety of different colors.
