Sky, the UK's number-one pay-TV service, has released its Sky Sports TV app for Android. Like the iOS app, it's a subscription-based service that provides access to Sky Sports 1-4, Sky Sports F1, Sky Sports News, Sky News, ESPN, and At The Races for £4.99 (just under $8). The app is aimed at those of us that aren't currently subscribers — Sky customers with Sky Sports 1 and 2 are able to watch all the Sky Sports channels through the Sky Go app already — and payment for the channels will be made monthly through your Google Play account.

It's not clear if the £4.99 price is an introductory offer — iOS customers are hooked in with a £4.99 offer before the price jumps to £9.99 — but the Google Play listing makes no mention of the price increasing. Unfortunately, the app is only available to users in the UK and Ireland, and Sky currently doesn't support Jelly Bean, so there's no way for us to test the app out for ourselves at the moment. Like the iOS version, which is iPhone only, it appears as though only smartphones are supported — perhaps Sky feels like a tablet version would eat into its subscriber base. Let us know how you get on with the Sky Sports TV app in comments — is it everything you've been waiting for?
