Virgin Mobile will begin offering the Galaxy Reverb, which we caught a glimpse of last month. The specs on the device match up pretty well with what we'd previously seen: including a 4-inch WVGA display, 1.4GHz MSM8655 processor, 756MB of RAM, 1700mAh battery, and both a front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera and a rear-facing 5-megapixel camera. It's running Android 4.0.4 and to our eyes it's darn close to stock. It will cost $249.99, with pre-orders beginning on August 29th and availability sometime in September.

Prepaid smartphones have seen a considerable surge in popularity, as prepaid smartphone ownership nearly doubled in Q2 of 2012. The improved quality of prepaid devices was cited as a contributing factor, and the addition of new 4G Android smartphones to Boost and Virgin Mobile's stables might help push things in the right driection. The competition will be fierce: yesterday MetroPCS announced a few new smartphone offerings of its own. The prepaid carrier added the LG Motion 4G to its LTE lineup, while also revealing that the Samsung Galaxy SIII would be available before the end of the year.
