Amazon today announced an expanded agreement with NBCUniversal that the company says will add several hundred episodes of NBC's most popular programming to Prime Instant Video. Specifically, Amazon lists Parks and Recreation, Parenthood, The Starter Wife, Friday Night Lights, Heroes, and Battlestar Galactica among the shows that are now available to Prime subscribers.
The new NBC episodes can be instantly streamed from Amazon's Instant Video app — which itself has expanded to a plethora of devices lately including Xbox 360 and iPad. With this latest deal in the books, Prime Instant Video now offers over 22,000 movies and TV shows for streaming. That's not to say Amazon should be resting on its laurels: the online retailer has plenty of work to do on the content front if it hopes to match Netflix's extensive library.
