Sony's NEX-5N interchangeable lens camera is much-loved around these parts, and the news that several sites have taken $100 off its price is certainly welcome. The discount, which is currently live on Amazon, B&H, and Adorama, takes the price of a NEX-5N body down to $498, while a bundle including an 18-55mm lens is priced at $598.
Sony Alpha Rumors points out that the price drop could be a sign of Sony clearing the way for the launch of its next-generation NEX-5R camera, which is expected to be unveiled soon. Although Amazon and Adorama haven't put a closing date on the discount, B&H lists the offer as ending on September 1st, so you'd be wise to snap one up soon if you're interested.
In a separate deal, Sony is offering $150 off the NEX-F3, NEX-5N, or NEX-7 when purchased with a $349.99 55-210mm telephoto lens and one of a choice of accessories priced between $49.99 (16GB SDHC card) and $99.99 (snazzy Sony backpack). It's not quite as good a deal as the straight NEX-5N offer, but if you're planning on picking up both a NEX camera and a telephoto lens, it's definitely worth buying direct from Sony.
