We've just come across a few images of an HTC Android device that looks like it could be a new hero phone for the manufacturer. Unfortunately, other than a particularly persistent rumor appearing to match up with these images, we don't have a lot to go on. The red accents on the metal rails on the side are a Verizon-favorite for its HTC line of devices. There's a Beats Audio logo too, plus a large sticker looks very much like what HTC has done on the One X (sealed battery and all). So while we've no reason to doubt these sadly blurry images are legitimate pictures of an upcoming HTC device, we're left to speculation about which device it would be.
One likely possibility is that it lines up quite nicely with a common rumor that HTC is creating a 5-inch, 1080p phone, possibly bound for Verizon. The HTC6435LVW first appeared on a benchmarking site last month. It sported a 1.5GHz processor that outperformed a traditional Qualcomm S4 by a wide enough margin to make some wonder whether it might be based on a next-gen chip. It also had a display with 1794 x 1080 screen resolution, which could probably be rounded up to full 1080p if you assume the difference is HTC's original implementation of the menu button on Android 4.0.
Verizon users pining for a high-end HTC One-series phone have had to make due with the decidedly less-appealing Droid Incredible 4G LTE. If this phone ends up being legitimate, those users might just have something to look forward to.
Update: According to @Football4PDA, the device above will be on Verizon with the name HTC One DXL.
