Star Wars Episode 1: Racer may have launched on the Nintendo 64 way back in 1999, but one fan decided now was the right time to build a custom controller specifically for playing the game. As creator "Clarky" explains, Racer features a special code that makes it possible to control a single podracer with two controllers, with each one used to independently manage the ship's dual engines. So, naturally, he decided to take two controllers and turn them into one.

The finished product actually looks quite professional despite its odd proportions, and while it may not be that useful for most of your N64 library, for Racer fans it could be a fun weekend project — though "Clarky" has at least one more feature to add before it's finished. "I'm now currently trying to find a small enough Rumble Pak board which will fit between the controllers," he explains. Be sure to check out the source link below to see the step-by-step of how the controller was made.
