John Peel's record collection has already been digitized, and now, hundreds of his live BBC 1 shows have been, as well. SoundCloud user +dB has uploaded 458 radio episodes from the late DJ, comprising more than 900 hours of music. The episodes date from 1967, when Peel was at Radio London, to 2004, when he completed his final shows for the BBC.
The legendary Radio 1 DJ has had an indelible influence upon popular music over the past half century, popularizing bands like Pink Floyd, Joy Division, and The Smiths through his Peel Sessions radio program. The Space, a UK-based experimental digital project, began digitizing his music collection earlier this year, but until now, his live shows had yet to be comprehensively archived.
