Bloomberg is reporting this morning that Intel has lowered its expected earnings forecast for the upcoming third quarter. The company has dropped its expected sales to $13.2 billion, a decrease of up to $1.6 billion from earlier projections. Intel says that the reduced forecast is due to weaker than expected demand for its processors. This most recent reduction comes after the company downsized its annual sales forecast back in July. With Windows 8 due to launch by the end of October or early November, it is interesting to see that manufacturers aren't exactly ramping up production of devices — or at least of ones that use Intel's chips.
