Those who played StarCraft and StarCraft: Brood War likely remember the impressive cinematic segments that punctuated the game's campaigns, and Blizzard's latest trailer delivers the same excitement for galactic drama with the warring Terran, Protoss, and Zerg. The new opening cinematic, for the second installment of StarCraft II, shows off a huge Zerg mothership of Independence Day proportions, and an ensuing onslaught against besieged Terrans.

While cinematic trailers with high production values aren't usually a good indicator of how a game will look and feel, StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm is said to be a thoughtfully designed sequel in a highly-regarded series; our friends at Polygon have previewed the single-player campaign, writing that "Blizzard has sloughed off old design decisions," giving the game more of an RPG-like feel. The game is set for release on March 12th, 2013.
