Google is making some big changes to Image Search that will hopefully make it easier and faster to find what you’re looking for. The company is announcing a redesign (pictured above) that lets you navigate through search results with the keyboard, putting the currently-selected image front and center. It also displays information like the size and filename in the same view — no more need to hover over thumbnails to get the same information. Finally, the weird view that shows your image superimposed on top of the source page is disappearing, which Google says should reduce server load and speed things up for users.

So far, we haven't seen the changes, but Google says it will be rolling out the new interface in the next few days. Image Search has been getting a lot of attention from the company recently; a tweak to its SafeSearch filter last month made it less likely for users to accidentally run into X-rated content.
