Toshiba added a budget 10-inch tablet to its range with the Excite 10 SE, so we dropped by the company’s booth at CES to see how the $350 device holds up. Spec wise it’s almost identical to the original Excite 10, with a Tegra 3 quad-core processor and 1280 x 800 display, but the SE ships with Android Jelly Bean instead of Ice Cream Sandwich. The construction of the tablet is also slightly different. Toshiba has decided to forego the aluminum trim around the edge of the device to cut costs, and the HDMI and SD card slots have also been removed. The SE is also a little bit thicker, and generally feels cheaper. Overall, this feels like Toshiba’s attempt to have a tablet for every price point, but it’s hard to see why you’d pick up the Excite 10 SE when the Nexus 10 can be had for just $50 more.
