Nintendo has managed to sell 10 million 3DS units in its native homeland of Japan. The latest issue of Japanese gaming issue Famitsu shows that as of January 6th, Nintendo has sold a total of 10,068,192 units. The portable handheld may not be quite as popular outside of Japan, but games like Animal Crossing: New Leaf have managed to propel the console to the 10 million milestone. Nintendo will no doubt shift even more in the future: the company just announced Pokemon X & Y, a title that makes the jump to 3D graphics. American may not be impressed by the portable handheld console, but Nintendo's strategy of constantly releasing sequels to popular franchises seems to be paying off in Japan.
