Apple today quietly slashed the price of its two-meter Thunderbolt cable. Originally priced at $49, the cable is now available on the Apple Store for $39. The company has also released a shorter, 0.5 meter version, priced at $29. The Thunderbolt interface, which was first announced in 2011, features two 10Gbps channels per port, allowing for data transfer speeds that, according to Apple, are twice as fast as USB 3.0 and up to 12 times faster than FireWire 800 connections.
