It’s Halloween season, and if you’re feeling the holiday spirit Carrie is opening this weekend. To see what else is on the horizon, let’s take a look at some of the latest trailers to make the rounds.
NON-STOP
For years Die Hard has been the go-to example for high-concept action movie pitches. We've had Die Hard on a bus (Speed), Die Hard on a plane (Passenger 57) and recently Die Hard in the White House… twice (White House Down and Olympus Has Fallen). It looks like the baton’s been passed however: Non-Stop is Taken on a plane. Thank you, Liam Neeson.
PARANORMAL ACTIVITY: THE MARKED ONES
The found footage jump-scare formula has been fine-tuned in this series to such a degree that it’s now time for spin-offs. This newest installment is set to arrive in January.
DEVIL’S DUE
What if Friday Night Lights’ QB1 found himself in the middle of Rosemary’s Baby with a video camera in hand? Something a lot like Devil’s Due, we’d bet. This one’s also coming in January, so get ready for a few weeks of shaky cam.
BLACK ANGEL
While not technically a trailer, this short clip from Roger Christian’s Black Angel is definitely worth a look. In case the name doesn’t sound familiar, Black Angel is the long-lost short film that played before some screenings of The Empire Strikes Back in 1980. It recently screened at the Mill Valley Film Festival, but Christian has plans to make it available for purchase in the future.
