Nokia’s Lumia 929 has been spotted a few times previously, but freshly leaked images today provide the best look at Nokia’s next flagship Windows Phone for Verizon. WPCentral has posted photos of the Lumia 929 with a list of specifications, including a 5-inch 1080p AMOLED display. The handset is set to debut on Verizon and it appears to be similar in style to the existing Lumia 928. The main visual changes include an aluminum frame with a polycarbonate rear and bigger display size.
Nokia has opted for a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor running at 2.2GHz, coupled with 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage. WPCentral claims that there is no microSD slot, but it’s not clear if Nokia plans to offer 64GB variants alongside the 32GB model. A 20-megapixel PureView camera can be seen at the rear of the Lumia 929, which is believed to offer the same 16-megapixel and 5-megapixel photos available on Nokia’s Lumia 1520. It appears the Lumia 929 also has a dual-LED flash, but no xenon flash.
While Nokia is planning to release its 6-inch Lumia 1520 shortly with a 1080p display, the Lumia 929 looks to be an effort to bring high resolution displays to the Lumia line at a more phone-like size. It’s still not clear when Nokia and Verizon plan to launch this particular handset, but its believed to be in carrier testing with a release planned soon.
